Underdog Beaver Division BULL DOGS loose in overtime thriller 1-0 to the Twin City Snipers 1 Team of Leominster MA.

This marks the first time in the BULLDOGS short history of four years they have had a team advance to the Finals in a major tournament. Not only did they advance to the Finals, but they gave the “A” Division Twin City Snipers all they could handle, coming close to winning the game on several occasions.  BULLDOG Goalie Tyler North made several key saves for the BULLDOGS to keep them in the game and was voted the BULLDOG Most Valuable Player of the Game.  The heavily favored Twin City Snipers 1 team had dominated the tournament up to that point Trouncing Athol Avalanche 9-2, and the Fall River Warriors 7-1. Both the Twin City Snipers and the Beaver Division BULLDOGS gave the large crowd exactly what they wanted in what was the last game of the tournament: Tenacity, Competitiveness, Sportsmanship, and a great game to watch!

“The kids all came together at the right time and played their hearts out. I do not think  prior to the start of that game anyone was thinking our kids had a chance to win, never mind take that team to overtime. I am proud of all of them and hopefully I can get most of them to come to the Nationals in Leominster with me Memorial Day Weekend” said Beaver Bulldog Coach Hank Gagnon.

Note: The 2013 U.S. Nationals - Penguin, Beaver, Cadet, "A & B" Divisions Championships will be played the weekend of May 23-27, 2013 at the Leominster Dekhockey Center in Leominster MA. Teams will flow in from all over the country to vie for the US National Dekhockey Championship.

The BULLDOGS program continues to progress. All three BULLDOG teams (Penguin, Beaver and Cadet) advanced to the Semi-Finals Finals for the first time in the New England Regional Tournament.

The Penguin Division BULLDOG Squad was 2-2 in the tournament losing in the Semi-Finals to the eventual Penguin Division Champions Twin City Snipers 3-1 in a highly contested game where the young BULLDOGS were very much in the game right up until the end. Earlier in the tournament they defeated Central Mass Bears from Winchendon, and Athol B 6-5 and 10-0 respectively, losing 3-2 in the preliminary rounds in a close game to ATHOL A 3-2.

“Everyone of those Bulldogs played their little hearts out and left a lasting impression on all of their fans and friends with such an amazing effort. I as a coach feel extremely honored to have had the chance to coach them, and to be just a small part in their outstanding accomplishments”  Quoted from Penguin Coach Rob Paquin on the Penguins Facebook page

The Cadets Division BULLDOGS also made to the Semi-finals where they squared off against the Leominster Sabres 4-1. Earlier in the Tournament the Cadet BULLDOGS defeated ATHOL A 6-1, and lost to a powerful and eventual Cadet tournament champions the Leominster STORM in their opening game.
